The desert is full of well defended plants (and animals) that can be dangerous if you’re not careful. Plants, of course, don’t want to be eaten any more than small animals. They can’t run and they can’t hide. So they add biological defenses such as sharp spines, stout thorns and nasty chemicals. So, look before touching!
